Mission Statement:
The Outdoor Adventure Program started in the fall of 1996. Initially, the program was
developed as a physical education class, offering whitewater rafting, mountain biking,
rock climbing, ice climbing, rappelling, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, snowboarding and
cross-country skiing. The program has since expanded to include multi-day
backpacking trips, extended week-long trips to places like Utah and Costa Rica as well
as a two-week trip trekking thru Tibet. Students, staff and faculty are welcome to
participate in any or all of the trips and programs that we offer. The opportunity to
experience these trips should not be missed. In addition to enjoying the natural beauty
where the trips take place and thrills of the activities offered, you will also learn a
number of important and valuable skills that will enhance your time spent outdoors. If
you have any questions about the trips and programs mentioned here, please feel free
to contact Director of Campus Recreation John Maurizi at (201) 216-8111 or
john.maurizi@stevens.edu.
