FAQ

Outdoor Adventure Program

1. Do I have to attend all the classes?

No. To fulfill the physical education requirements for one credit, you must attend 3 of the 7 trips offered.

2. Can I go on a trip if I'm not taking the physical education course?

Yes. The trips are open to all students, staff, faculty and administration. You are more than welcome to come to one or all of the trips. There is a small fee depending on the trip, but there is no set rate because each trip is different. Please take notice that some trips have a limited number of spaces, which are reserved for students taking the course for PE. If the trip does not fill up with PE students, it will then be opened to all.

3. Are there any additional costs?

Maybe. Students taking the course for PE, may incur additional charges for kayaking in the fall and ice climbing and snowboarding in the spring. These charges will be announced at the orientation meeting.

4. How long do the trips run?

For most of the trips, we meet in front of Jonas Hall at 8:00 AM and usually return between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. There may be some trips that require an earlier start and have a late return do to driving distances.

5. Do I need any special equipment to take the class?

No. Any special equipment will be supplied by either the school or the guide service being used. Some trips may require special clothing, such as rain gear, swim suit, hiking shoes, warm coat (other than cotton or leather). Specific information for each trip will be covered during orientation.

6. Can I bring a friend?

Yes, provided there are open slots not filled by Stevens students, staff, faculty and administration. There will be a fee for anyone going on the trip not associated with Stevens.
