| February 12, 2011, Centereach, NY - Briarcliffe Bowling Tournament |
Both the Men’s and the Women’s bowling teams saved their best performances of the season for the final tournament. Both teams finished third in their respective groups, with the Men’s team leading for a portion of the day early on. For the Men’s team, 5th year seniors Ron Ehlert and Matt Donders won the Doubles segment of the tournament with a pin total of 1373 across three games. 5th year senior Rudy Adametz and Freshman Greg Corradi finished 3rd in Doubles with a score of 1342, just 3 pins behind second place. Despite all 6 bowlers finishing with an average of over 200 for the day, late surges by Briarcliffe and Nassau during Baker games proved too much for the team. Matt Donders finished with the highest score of 1356 as the men finished with 8661 pins on the day. For the Womens team, Diane Bruzzese had the best performance of the day, finishing with an 872 pin total, leading the women to a final score of 5042 and a 3rd place finish.

The Stevens Tech bowling team had another strong showing at their second
Community College tournament in Garden City, NY. The team had one of their best overall team performances of the season, with all eight bowlers having a high game over 200, Brian Servedio (258), David Fonorow (256), Michael Sojka (244), Matt Donders (238), Greg Corradi (233), Ron Ehlert (227), Danny Duenas (224), and Rudy Adametz (215). The highest average of the day belonged to Brian Servedio with a 222 across six games. The team finished in 5th with a final pin total of 7,183 on the day, averaging a score of 1,026 per game, one of the highest of the season for the team.

The Stevens Tech bowling team had one of its best showings of the season at the Suffolk Community College Tournament. The team was able to place 3rd in the event, after a strong finish, erasing a 250 pin lead held by Suffolk at the beginning of the baker games. During the doubles and single games, the team finished with a total pin fall of 5,305 with freshman Greg Corradi leading the way with a total pin fall of 1,130 across his six games. The team then went on to shoot 1,727 across ten baker games, averaging just until 173 per game, with a high game of 211. After this performance at the first Community College event, the team looks forward to more success at similar tournaments in the future.

The Stevens Tech A-Team had a solid showing in the last conference match of the season. While the team was unable to move past NJIT in the standings, due to a late surge by the NJIT team, they were able to finish 6th out of 8, beating TCNJ and West Point. During the three team games, the team was able to get 6 point, 3 of which were won by senior Rudy Adametz. During bakers, the team was able to win another 6 points against West Point and Sacred Heart.
The B team had a strong showing at the conference tournament. They were able to move up past NJIT to finish in 7th out of 10 for the year. The team started off slow only getting a point in each of it first two matches. But after that the team picked it up and was able to take 12 of the last 16 points. Michael Jacobellis had the high score with a 215. Maickel Peck had the high series of 1070 for 6 games including a pair of 214 games. Michael Sojka also had a good series shooting 1000 over his six games while winning 3 of his 6 points.

At the Roto-Grip Keystone Quaker Classic the initial rust from the Christmas break wore off after the first two games and the team was able to compete fairly well with the field of 43. The team finished with a final pin total of 7,806 for the two days, 4,440 from five team games, and 3,366 from 20 baker games. The team finished in 34th and felt they could have done better, which fed as motivation for the second tournament.

During the Nittany Lion Kegler Classic, the team immediately felt more confident and let it show during the tournament. The team finished the tournament with a total score of 8,144. The 300 pin difference from the previous tournament was enough to bump the team up to 29th out of 46 teams. The team finished just a few pins behind 28th and beat rival teams such as NJIT, Penn State, William Patterson, and the University of Delaware.

The Stevens Bowling Team had their best showing of the season this past weekend at the Shippensburg Classic in Mechanicsburg, PA. The team finished in 10th place out of 27 teams with a final score of 8,179. This marks the first Top-10 finish this season for the team in a field of over 20 teams. The team was also in contention for higher positions as well, finishing less than 100 pins out of 7th. The team finished “Team Games” on Saturday with a respectable 5,354 over six games, averaging a score of 892. Ron Ehlert had the best individual showing for the weekend, shooting 1,163 across his six games, averaging 194. The team performed extremely well on Sunday for Bakers though, shooting 2,825 across 15 games, averaging 188 per game and 942 per five game set. The best performance came in the final Baker set, where the team shot 995 across 5 games, with high games of 232 and 229.

The Stevens Tech A-Team had highs and lows in their second EIBC Conference match. The team started off strong, with a 902 against William Patterson, and a 1052 against NJIT, the team’s highest team game of the season. After that though, the team struggled to find their rhythm again and only managed to earn 16 out of a possible 48 points on the day. The Stevens B-Team fared better in their division, earning 21.5 points on the day. Ron Ehlert had the best performance from either team on Saturday, bowling a combined score of 1186 over his six games, with a high game of 253.

The Stevens Men’s Bowling Team had a decent showing at the Penn State Classic. The team shot 4,285 in their 5 team games, averaging a respectable 857 per game. On Sunday, the group shot 3,206 in their 20 Baker games, resulting in a final score of 7,491 for the weekend, placing the team in 18th out of 24 teams. Brian Servedio had the best individual showing for the weekend, shooting 926 in his five games, averaging 185 per game, with a high game of 222.
The Stevens Women’s Bowling team had a respectable showing at Penn State as well. On Saturday they shot a 3,275 in their team games, averaging 655 per game. On Sunday, the Women finished with 2,429 in Baker games, resulting in a total score of 5,704 for the weekend. The girls finished 7th out of the 7 Women’s teams, but did fare better against the competition than at their previous tournament and are showing a great deal of improvement as the season moves forward. Rebekah Hall had the best individual showing for the Women, bowling 777 across her 5 games, averaging 155, with a high game of 169.

The Stevens Bowling Team finished 8th in a field of 12 teams in the Green & Gold Classic, finishing with a pin total of 7831. Brian Servedio led the team throughout the weekend, finishing with 1187 pins after 6 games, a 197.8 average. This was high enough to place him 3rd in the tournament for individual pin totals. Ron Ehlert also finished in the top 10, placing 7th, and freshman Greg Corradi broke the top 30 by placing 29th. The team had a solid showing at baker games on Sunday, finishing with a 2667 total and a high game of 223.

The Stevens Men’s Bowling Team continued their strong start to the season shooting their 2 highest games of the season in the last two singles games. The team also averaged 192 in the team games on Sunday, only being beaten there by a few teams. David Fonorow had the individual high game with a 267 and also turned in the high series with a 1772 over nine games finishing in the top 25 for his second straight week, he finished 17th. The team finished 13th out of 17 schools and 16th out 26 teams at the tournament, but the late surge on Sunday, showed promise for the upcoming tournaments.
The Women’s Team also made their first ever tournament appearance, led by Diane Bruzzese who shot 1249 over her 9 games. The team finished 6th out of 6 teams, but they received a better understanding of what to expect in tournament play and are looking to improve in the coming tournaments.

The Stevens Bowling Team had a very strong showing at the Blue Hen Open in Delaware this weekend. The team finished 8th in the 20 team field and 6th out of the 14 different schools represented. The team’s high individual game was turned in by Rudy Adametz with a 226. They were led by anchor Ron Ehlert who shot an 1101 through 6 games on Saturday, tops on the team with a 183.5 average. Brian Servedio and David Fonorow also finished in the top 25 of the 160 bowlers competing. The team averaged just over 170 for the weekend in all games, including a 173 average in the team games on Sunday to make a push for 6th place, which was the cut-off. The team finished 100 pins out of 6th, but the tournament provided a lot of optimism for the season.
