| February 11, 2012 vs. Hofstra University, Prudential Center, Newark, NJ |
The Stevens Ducks Hockey wins their biggest game in the program’s 3 year history with a double overtime shootout victory on senior night over Hofstra University to clinch its seed in the playoffs. Going back and forth for nearly the entire game, the Ducks were able to overcome adversity and win 7-6. Stevens came out with a bang with two goals from freshman, Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) with assists coming from Riccardello and Hartt. Hofstra then answered with two goals of their own to bring to the score to 2-2. Stevens then scored three straight goals coming from captains Kevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY) and Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA) and again, freshman, Max Deluca. Hofstra, in turn, scored three straight to bring the score to 5-5. Max Deluca recorded his fourth goal of the night to close out the second period, giving Stevens the 6-5 edge. Hofstra scored the lone goal in the third to force continuation of the game. After a scoreless overtime, the Ducks were able to defeat Hofstra in shootout fashion, outscoring Hofstra by a score of 3-2 with big goals coming from Hartt, Deluca, and McMahon. Stevens moves on to play number one seed, County College of Morris, next Saturday, February 18, at 4PM at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

February 8, 2012 vs. County College of Morris, Mennan Sports Arena, Morristown, NJ

The Stevens Ducks Hockey Team fell to first place, County College of Morris, by a score of 10-3 on Wednesday night. The game got off to a slow start with the final score at the end of the first period, 2- 0 in favor of CCM. Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) got the Ducks rolling early in the second with an assist from Jerry Riccardello to bring the score to 2-1. However, CCM would answer quickly scoring 2 more goals before senior forward, Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ) answered to bring the score to 4-2 with an assist coming from captain, Kevin McMahon. CCM then scored 4 more unanswered to bring the score to 8-2 before Riccardello recorded his second of the night. The Ducks fall 11-7 on the season and look forward to a tough weekend ahead to end the regular season and decide their playoff hopes.

The Stevens Ducks Ice Hockey Team recorded their biggest win of the season to date beating league foe, Hofstra University by a score of 4-3. The Ducks were led by senior net-minder, Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ), who recorded 44 saves. Hofstra struck first with a goal about half way through the first but the Ducks quickly evened it up with a power play goal from Kevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY) just one minute later. The Ducks then went on a surge through the second period scoring three more unanswered goals coming from Max Deluca, Brandon Hartt, and James Margetis (Spring Lake Heights, NJ). Hofstra then scored two more unanswered goals but the Ducks were able to hold on for the victory due to a strong team defensive front. The Ducks improve to 11-6 on the season and look forward to a tough week ahead where they will play three games in four days against County College of Morris, Fordham University, and Hofstra University to close out the remainder of the regular season.

The Stevens Ducks Ice Hockey Team recorded another win Saturday on the road beating league opponent, Kings Point by a score of 8-2. The Ducks got the ball rolling with three straight goals coming from Kevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY), Brandon Hartt and Matt Sheehan. Kings Point and the Ducks went goal for goal following into the third period until the Ducks went on a 4 goal streak to end the game with goals coming from Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ), Hartt, Margetis, and Chok. The Ducks were led by freshman forward, Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ), who tallied 3 assists in the win,Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA), who tallied 2 goals and 3 assists in the win, and James Margetis (Spring Lake Heights, NJ), who tallied 1 goal and 2 assists in the win. Kamil Szorc recorded 27 saves in the win. The Ducks improve to 10-5 on the season and look forward to a tough weekend next in two league matchups against County College of Morris and Hofstra University.

The Stevens Ducks Ice Hockey Team got a big win Saturday on the road beating league foe, Raritan Valley CC by a score of 7-4 The Ducks were led by 5 goals from assistant captain, Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA), and senior net-minder, Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ) making 33 saves. The Ducks went up 2-0 after the first due to goals from Hartt and Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) but the score was evened up after the second period due to two unanswered Raritan goals. The Ducks prevailed in the third outscoring Raritan 5-2 in the third period to give them the win with key goals from Hartt and Taylor Brown (Cortland, NY). The Ducks improve to 9-5 on the season, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Stevens will be on the road again this weekend playing against Kings Point on Saturday with a start time of 9:15 p.m.

The Stevens Ducks Ice Hockey Team falls to Maritime College to start off the Ducks’ second half to the season. The game got off to a slow start but with just under five minutes remaining in the first period, Maritime scored two goals to give them the lead going into the second. Maritime wasted no time in the second, scoring again just two minutes into the period. Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA) got the ball rolling for Stevens with a goal to bring to deficit to two. After an array of goals from both teams, the score at the end of the second period was 6-3 in favor of Maritime with goals coming from Jake Lovelace (Wantagh, NY) and Hartt. Maritime scored the final three goals in the period to claim the victory with a score of 9-3 causing the Ducks to fall to 8-5 on the season. Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ) earned 36 saves in the losing attempt. The following night Stevens travels to Bridgewater Sports Arena to take on Raritan Valley CC in a critical league matchup.

The Stevens Ice Hockey team got a big win Saturday at the Prudential Center beating league rival SUNY New Paltz by a score of 12-1. The Ducks were led by 6 goals from senior Taylor Brown (Cortland, NY). Through the first two period Stevens had all the scoring all 9 goals. In the 3rd freshman Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) scored all three goals for the Ducks and extended the lead to 12. New Paltz scored a late power play goal in the 3rd period to make the final score 12-1. Aaron Mullen (Wilder, VT) made 10 saves in the win and allowed no goals through his 45 minutes of play. Nick D’Errico (Southborough, MA) made 3 saves and only allowed 1 goal. Stevens plays next weekend in a rematch vs. Rowan University who handed the Ducks their 2nd loss of the season in their first matchup.

Stevens Ice hockey improved to 7-3 on the season with a 9-7 win over Columbia University on Sunday night. Just like the last matchup the Lions struck first with an early goal but the Ducks powered back with two goals from Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) and another goal from James Margetis (Spring Lake Heights, NJ). Stevens scored four goals in the 2nd period coming from Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA), Brian Chok (Middlesex, NJ), Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ), and Deluca for his 3rd of the game. At the end of the period the Ducks led by a score of 7-3. Stevens insured their victory with goals from Matt Sheehan (Jamison, PA) and Eric Yando (Baldwinsville, NY). Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ) earned his 4th win of the season in 5 starts making 21 saves. Stevens is off next weekend for the Holiday but return home on December 3rd for a matchup against Rowan University.

The Stevens Hockey team dropped a hard fought game against Division II TCNJ this past weekend. Being plagued with penalties it was hard for the Ducks offense to get rolling but the play of freshman goaltender Aaron Mullen (Wilder, VT) kept the Ducks in the game. Mullen made a total of 47 saves on the night and only allowed 4 goals. Offensively Stevens’ lone goal was scored by Brian Chok (Middlesex, NJ) on an assist from Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA). A three goal 2nd period by TCNJ sealed their victory in the first ever matchup between the two teams.

The Ducks eclipsed last season’s win total to improve to 6-2 on the season with a win over East Stroudsburg University by a score of 11-2. Stevens got off to a strong start scoring 7 goals in the 1st period and did not allow a goal against. Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ) and Matt Sheehan (Jamison, PA) both had two goals to lead Stevens in the period. In the 2nd the Ducks and ESU traded goals with the 2 Stevens goals being scored by Jake Lovelace (Wantagh, NY) and Brian Chok (Middlesex, NJ). The 2nd period ended with an 8-2 score in favor of the ducks. Stevens scored all three goals of the 3rd period and secured the victory. Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ) earned his 3rd win of the season making 24 saves in 60 minutes of play. The Ducks travel to TCNJ next weekend on November 19th and then return home to take on Columbia University on November 20th.

The Stevens Ice Hockey team went on the road to face SUNY New Paltz and got their 5th win of the season by a score of 8-6. New Paltz struck first with a goal just 3 minutes in to the game. Stevens couldn’t capitalize on some scoring opportunities and the 1st period ended at 1-0 in favor of New Paltz. Their lead did not last as Captain Kevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY)scored an unassisted goal just a minute in to the 2nd period to tie the game at 1-1. The Ducks extended their lead on 3 unanswered goals coming fromMax Deluca (Vernon, NJ), Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ), and Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA) to make the score 4-1 Stevens. Both teams traded goals through the rest of the period and the 2nd ended at a score of 6-4. New Paltz score the first goal of the 3rd period to cut the lead to 1 but Terrance White (Scotch Plains, NJ) scored his first goal of the season to give the Ducks a 2 goal advantage. New Paltz scored once again late in the 3rd but Hartt scored his 3rd of the game to seal the victory for Stevens. Arron Mullen (Wilder, VT) made 26 saves through 40 minutes of play and Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ) made 13 saves in 20 minutes of play.

Prudential Center Newark, NJ: Stevens Ice Hockey team improved to 4-2 with a win over Kings Point on Sunday night. Stevens got things going midway through the 1st period with a goal from Eric Yando (Baldwinsville, NY) with help from Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA) and Jake Lovelace (Wantagh, NY). The Ducks ended the period with 3 more unanswered goals coming fromJames Margetis (Spring Lake Heights, NJ), Hartt, and Lovelace. In the 2nd period Hartt added two more gals to give him a hat-trick for the day and Freshman Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) scored with an assist coming fromKevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY). Columbia scored a late powerplay goal to make the final score 7-1. Kamil Szorc (Clifton,NJ) earned the win in net making 23 saves. Stevens starts on the road next weekend with a game vs. SUNY New Paltz but then returns to the Prudential Center on November 12th for a matchup against East Stroudsburg University.

Ice House Hackensack, NJ: The Stevens Ice hockey got a big road win Saturday night vs. league rival Columbia University. After falling to a quick 1-0 deficit Stevens answered back with 5 unanswered goals of their own to give them a 5-1 advantage late in the 1st. The goals came from a number of different players including 2 from Brandon Hartt (Methuen, MA). Columbia scored the last goal of the period to make the score 5-2 going into the 2nd. 5 minutes in to the period Columbia scored a goal to cut the lead to 2. Shortly after the ducks answered back with an unassisted goal from freshman Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) to bring the lead back to 3. Only 2 minutes later SeniorEric Yando (Baldwinsville, NY) scored his second goal of the game to make the score 7-3 late in the 2nd. Again Columbia scored the last goal of the period to give the Ducks only a 3 goals advantage entering the final period. Hartt scored all 3 goals for Stevens in the 3rd to seal the 10-6 victory. Freshman Arron Mullen (Wilder, VT) earned his 2nd win of the season making 45 saves.

The next night the Ducks were on the road again to face Rowan University for their first out of conference test of the season. The game got off to a slow start but halfway through the 1st Rowan got 3 unanswered goals just over a minute apart from each other. Max Deluca added got the ball rolling for Stevens with a goal to end the period in a 2 goal deficit for the Ducks. Rowan scored the first and only goal early in the 2nd but short after the start of the 3rd period Jake Lovelace (Wantagh, NY) got his first goal of the season to make the score 4-2. Rowan answered back to increase the lead to three but a late effort from Hartt to score his 8th goal of the year cut it back to two with only minutes to play. A late effort from the Ducks was held off by a strong defensive effort from Rowan and they held on to beat the Ducks by a score of 6-3. Kamil Szorc (Clifton, NJ) got the loss in net making 26 saves. The Ducks fall to 2-2 on the season and their next game is in two weeks on November 5th as they travel to the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ to take on Columbia University. The following night Stevens plays Kings Point at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ with a start time of 8:45pm.

The Stevens Ice Hockey Team got their second win of the season Friday night on their first road game of the season vs. St. Thomas Aquinas College. The Ducks got off to a quick start with 5 unanswered goals in the 1st period. A Hat-Trick by Brandon Hartt (Methuem, MA) with two more goals from Max Deluca (Vernon, NJ) and James Margetis (Spring Lake Heights, NJ) gave Stevens an advantage of 5-0 to end the period. St. Thomas made a run of their own in the 2nd coming out and scoring the first 3 goals to make it a two goal game halfway through the period. With 3 minutes left to play before the break Margetis netted his second goal of the game andRob Kochan (Clifton, NJ) added his first to bring the lead back to four goals. It didn’t take long for the Stevens to find the back of the net again as Deluca got his second goal of the night to end the period at 8-3 in favor of the Ducks. St. Thomas scored 3 goals in the 3rd but Deluca completed his hat-trick in the 3rd and Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ) tallied one of his own to finish the game for a Stevens’ victory of 10-6. Freshman Dave Chmeileski (Fairfield, NJ) had 3 assist in the game as well and Freshman Andrew Mullen (Wilder, VT) earned his first win of the season making 32 saves in the net.

Saturday night the Stevens Ice Hockey team fell to league rival Fordham University to drop them to 1-1 on the season. The Ducks got things going midway through the first off of a goal from Kevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY) getting a pass from Brandon Hartt (Methuem, MA) to get a breakaway coming out of the penalty box. Stevens led through then end of the 1st giving them a 1-0 advantage going into the 2nd period. Fordham evened things up on a powerplay goal with 14 minutes left to play in the period. The 2nd ended with a 1-1 tie but the 3rd period was all Fordham as they scored 5 unanswered goals to win the game 6-1. The Ducks will be on the road this weekend playing games against St.Thomas Aquinas and Rowan University.

The Stevens Ducks Ice Hockey Team for the 3rd straight season starts their year off 1-0 with a win over Raritan Valley Community College on their home ice at the Prudential Center. The Ducks got things rolling in the 1st with an unassisted goal from Brandon Hartt (Methume, MA). Only a minute later Raritan Valley tallied a score to tie the game a 1-1 halfway through the first. With 4:16 left in the 1st period Jerry Riccardello (Roxbury, NJ) netted a goal to give Stevens a 2-1 advantage. Early in the 2nd period Raritan Valley score 3 unanswered goals to give them a 4-2 lead but Hartt tallied 2 more to tie the game going into the final period. Early in the 3rd Stevens took a two goal lead thanks to goals from Kevin McMahon (Baldwinsville, NY) andMax Deluca (Vernon, NJ). For the rest of the 3rd Raritan and Stevens traded goals but the Ducks prevailed and held on for the 9-7 victory. Hartt had 4 goals and 2 assist and Kamil Szorc (Clifton,NJ) earned the win in Net making 38 saves. The next game is this Saturday as the Ducks take on Fordham University at the Prudential Center at 8pm.
