Richard Wengenroth competed in the USCSA National Championships last week.  Despite battling bronchitis, Wengenroth competed in all events.  Wengenroth tallied the following rankings out of 50 competitors in each division:  Half Pipe – 27th, Slopestyle – 24th , Snowboard X – 19th and Giant Slalom – 14th.  Richard did a great job under the circumstance and his dedication to competition is inspiring!

 Sunday, February 28 2010, Tannersville, PA
Tannersville, PA – Sophomore Richard Wengenroth achieved 1st place in the Giant Slalom Snowboard division with a combined time of 1:23.15, only .75 seconds faster than University of Virginia's Matthew Waugh. Wengenroth also won the overall combined championship.

Nine Stevens students have qualified for the USCSA Regional Championships.  Among the qualifiers is Richard Wengenroth, taking first place overall in Men’s Snowboarding and Grace Sack finishing in 4th place for Women’s Alpine.  Sack raced in only four of the six weeks of races, taking first place in each one!  The remaining qualifiers include, Bob DeMaria, Carl Segen, Igor Slootsky, Mark Hall, Nate Rogers, Paul Mercer and Henry Bolente.

 About Skiing and Snowboard Team 

 

 

 

The Stevens Ski and Snowboard team races in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association, New Jersey Leauge in January and February in the NJ/NY/PA region.

 

We have a male and female ski racing team that was established in the 2005 season and a male and female snowboarding team that was established in the 2007 season. We race both Slalom and Giant Slalom events (snowboard racers only participate in Giant Slalom). Last season we competed at mountains including Camelback, Jack Frost Big Boulder and Mountain Creek among others. New this season is the addition of the skiercross and boardercross events to found out of schedule.

We compete against Princeton, Columbia, Lehigh, Rutgers, MMA among others.
