Emily Beach

Emily Beach is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey program.

In her first three years at the helm, the Ducks are 42-23 and are a combined 30-15 over the last two years.

In 2013, seven players earned all-conference honors en route to an E8 regular-season title. Marguerite Chavez earned Empire 8 Player of the Year honors and was named an NFHCA All-American, with classmate Megan Traub joining her as an All-Region pick. The Ducks finished the year with a record of 14-8 and appearances in the semifinals of the ECAC and Empire 8 Tournaments.

In 2012, Stevens had a 16-7 season that led to the program’s first-ever Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic title and the third-most wins in the history of the program.
 
Beach and the Ducks won the Empire 8 regular-season title with a flawless conference mark, advancing to the conference title game. Stevens went on to win the ECAC crown and finish the year with a record of 16-7. Three players earned all-conference honors, three players earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region honors and junior forward Marguerite Chavez earned second-team NFHCA All-America status after a 14 goal, 12 assist and 40 point season. 
 
In her first season at the helm, Beach helped lead the Ducks to their fifth-straight double-digit wins season, guiding the team to its fourth-consecutive appearance in the Empire 8 Championship and second overall trip to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championship. The Ducks reached the semifinals of both tournaments, ending 2011 with an overall record of 12-8 and a 5-1 conference mark. Beach helped six players earn all-conference honors with three earning first-team nods - Mallory Swanson, Jillian Price and Mark Nikish. Swanson also was named a third-team NFHCA All-American and Price finished the year ranked sixth nationally in assists.
 
Over the last two years leading the program, an amazing 25 student-athletes have been named NFHCA All-Academic and Stevens has been an Academic Team Award winner as well.
 
A two-year starter at Maryland, Beach led the 2005 Terrapins to both the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and National Championship as a team captain. She was named a first-team National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American and was also a member of the ’05 NCAA All-Tournament team. The Terrapins also reached the national semifinals in 2004.
 
Beach was the 2001 Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year and was honored as the Player of the Decade in 2010.
 
After graduating with of Bachelor of Science in Community Health in 2006, Beach was an assistant coach it her alma mater and helped that group win the National Championship for the second time in as many years.
 
In 2007, Beach became an assistant at Georgetown University where she was responsible for practice planning and implementation both on the team and individual levels and played a large role in recruiting. She edited and analyzed video footage using GameBreaker, and also managed all administrative operations of the program.
 
In addition to her coaching duties, the Bethesda, Md. native was the Director of Field Hockey at Champions of Tomorrow. She coached U19 club teams, oversaw coaches and athletes at all levels, as well as organizing, staffing, and running all camps and clinics.
 
In January of 2007, Beach invented Dribble Dr., a training stick with a now-proven record of teaching proper dribbling technique while improving hand speed and forearm strength. Her invention and subsequent business recently had her featured in U.S. News and World Report.
 
Beach currently resides in Hoboken, N.J.
