What is Duck Country?
Over the course of the last few years, Duck Country has become a big source of school pride at Stevens Institute of Technology. In the past, Duck Country operated as a competition between different varsity teams or groups at selected home athletic events where each entity earned points based on attendance, half-time participation and other determining factors.

In 2007-08, the concept of Duck Country is going to be tweaked slightly. Instead of having organizations or teams competing against one another, the Department of Athletics is encouraging full-fledged support of Stevens as a whole. As a result, individuals do not need to form groups to partake in Duck Country.

In addition, in previous years, each sport was limited to having just one Duck Country event. That is not the case anymore. Basically, Duck Country signifies an important home contest where the Athletic Department is seeking a strong turnout of fans to support our teams. So, if you hear the words “Duck Country,” just think “big game” and come cheer on Stevens.

To show that we are serious about making Duck Country games more enjoyable and fan-friendly, the Athletic Department will be hosting a number of great giveaways and holding half-time competitions at Duck Country events.

Please note that if any team that competes off-campus for a “home event” wants to designate one of their competitions as a Duck Country event, they certainly have the opportunity to do so. In that case, the Department of Athletics would be willing to supply a fan bus provided that there is significant interest. To make arrangements for a fan bus, please contact Associate Director of Athletics Michael Lippencott at (201) 216-8038.

Once again, let’s not forget that Stevens Athletics needs your support. So, throw on your Duck Country shirt, come on out and make some noise. Let’s go Ducks!
