Grimes Belts Fourth Homer But Baseball Fell To No. 17 SUNY Cortland
AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team, facing its third-consecutive ranked opponent, fell to No. 17 SUNY Cortland, 11-5, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Fla. to open up its annual spring trip. The Ducks, who were coming off a 13-3 loss to No. 6 Kean University and 10-8 victory over No. 3 Eastern Connecticut State University, are now 4-5 on the young season, while the Red Dragons improved to 5-2 on the year.
Softball Begins Inaugural Season, Drops Two at Cusack Tournament
FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team played its first games in history Sunday morning, dropping both ends of a doubleheader at the Gene Cusack Softball Tournament in Ft. Myers, Fla. The Ducks lost 7-1 to Wheaton (Mass.) College in game one and dropped an 8-4 decision to Smith College in the nightcap. Sophomore Maggie Weigel led the team, going 3 for 6 on the day.
Perkins, Turalski Lead Stevens at NCAA Regionals
MADISON, N.J. – Freshmen Krystal Perkins and Juliet Turalski led the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s fencing team in its season finale at the NCAA Regionals Saturday, with both fencers finishing in the Top-20 in their respective weapons. The Ducks, after setting a school standard for winning percentage in the regular season, turned in a solid performance in the national tournament as well.
Men's Lacrosse Falls to Lynchburg, 16-10
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The No. 13 Stevens Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse team fell 16-10 to Lynchburg College on Saturday afternoon at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. Lynchburg built a 6-0 lead 7:50 into the game and eventually took a 12-3 lead into intermission. The Hornets were led by six points from senior Ethan Farrell and four points apiece from sophomore Dylan Hoff and sophomore Ben Sauer. Junior Chris Laurita led the Ducks (4-1) with three goals and two assists while junior Blair Koontz tallied four times.
Men's Volleyball Extends Win-Streak To Eight With Sweeps Of Polytechnic And NJCU
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team ran its season-best win-streak to eight with a pair of sweeps over North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Metro Division rivals Polytechnic University and New Jersey City University in a tri-match at Canavan Arena in Hoboken, N.J. The Ducks defeated the Fighting Blue Jays, 3-0 (30-14, 30-14, 40-15), to open play before downing the Gothic Knights, 3-0 (30-20, 30-17, 30-24) in the afternoon session. NJCU defeated NYU-Poly, 3-0 (30-9, 30-16, 30-20) in the day’s other match.
