HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 26, 2013) – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team took down Centennial Conference foes McDaniel College and Muhlenberg College on Senior Day in Canavan Arena on Saturday afternoon. Stevens defeated McDaniel, 23-19, in the opening showdown and then rolled past Muhlenberg, 43-6, to wrap up the tri-match. Stevens honored its nine seniors and alumni before the match against Muhlenberg.

In the opener against the Green Terror, Stevens was award six points to start the match by way of forfeit. After a pin by McDaniel at 133-lbs. to even the match at six each, junior Cody Curtiss (Frisco, Texas) scored four points with a 12-3 major decision win over Trey Mitchell at 141.

McDaniel then took the lead, 12-10, with two straight decisions at 149 and 157, before senior Joey Favia (Brick, N.J.) swung momentum back to the Ducks with a pin in 3:35 against Josh Moore in the 165-lb. bout. Fellow senior Will Sharkey (Westminster, Md.) put Stevens ahead by seven, 19-12, in the follow bout with a 7-2 decision versus Nick Cross.

At 184, McDaniel answered back with an overtime decision win to bring to contest to within four points at 19-15, but junior Alex Moreno (Tenafly, N.J.) clinched the victory for the Ducks with a major decision triumph, 18-5, in the following bout over Ricky Tisinger.

In the final match of the day against a depleted Muhlenberg squad, six Ducks prevailed via forfeit. Curtiss tallied the first win of the match with his second major decision win on the afternoon against Che Chengsupanimit, 20-7.

Freshman Victor Del Monico (Phillipsburg, Pa.) picked up a 5-1 decision win at 157 over Jimmy Coiley to round out the bout wins for Stevens.

Muhlenberg earned its six points with two decision wins at 149- and 285-lbs.

The Ducks are back in action on February 2 in another conference tri-match at Ursinus College at 11 a.m. Stevens also takes on Johns Hopkins University in the three-team showdown.
