More School Records Fall for Women’s Indoor Track & Field at NYU Fastrack Challenge

NEW YORK CITY (February 15, 2013)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology women's indoor track & field team established four new school records at the NYU Fastrack Challenge on Friday in New York City. Two of those school marks also qualified for the upcoming ECAC Championships on March 1 and 2.

Senior Rebecca Tylock (Shrewsbury, Mass.) posted a breakthrough performance in the pole vault with a school record mark of 10 feet, 10 inches (3.3 meters) and qualified for ECACs. Tylock placed fourth overall in the event.

Fellow senior Alina Duran (West New York, N.J.) re-established her school standard in the weight throw with a toss of 17.58 meters. Duran bested the field of 14 athletes en route to the fourth best distance in the country.

Juniors Tiffany Evangelou (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) were also school record-breakers in the 60-meter hurdles and the 1,000-meter run. Evangelou clocked a time of 9.44 seconds for an ECAC mark, while Freed completed the 1K in a time of 3:06.22 and finished sixth. In the triple jump, Evangelou took seventh overall with a leap of 10.53 meters.

Senior Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) participated in the 5,000-meter run and took fourth overall in a time of 19:05.12. Freshman Brianna Marchal (Manahawkin, N.J.) finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 10.69 meters.

Two other freshmen Ducks registered seventh place finishes in the high jump and pole vault events. Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) cleared the bar at 1.60 meters in the high jump, while Alexis Doucette (Hillsdale, N.J.) reached 3.10 meters in the pole vault.

Stevens will be back in action at the ECAC Championships in New York City for its final meet of the season before the NCAA Championships.
