Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's indoor track & field teams earned Empire 8 Conference Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Monday. Tylock was the women's recipient for field, while Cahill was the conference's top track runner this week.
Both student-athletes competed at the NYU Fastrack Challenge on February 15 where they established new school records and qualified for the upcoming ECAC Championships on March 1 and 2.
Tylock posted a breakthrough performance in the pole vault with a school record mark of 10 feet, 10 inches (3.3 meters) and qualified for ECACs. Tylock placed fourth overall in the event. This is her first conference weekly honor.
Cahill, now a three-time athlete of the week, including the cross country season, broke his own school record in the 3,000-meter race by 16 seconds. He posted a time of 8:42.91, improving on his old program record of 8:58.12, en route to placing fourth. No Stevens runner had ever ran a time better than 9:04.02 before this season.
The ECAC Championships will be the last meet for the Ducks before the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships begin on March 8 and 9.
