Women’s Swimming Off to Solid Start at ECAC’s

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (December 5, 2014)
– The Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team is in third place after one day of competition at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.
 
New York University is in the lead with 179 points, and DI Siena College is in second. The Ducks are in third with 111 points as a total of eight teams are competing on the women's side.
 
The team of senior Sharon Rooker, senior Brittany Geyer, senior Maria McClure and junior Jennifer Rutledge combined for a 1:48.36 in placing second in the 200-medley relay to bring in 56 team points.
 
Sophomore Danielle Caruso earned a win in the 1,650-yard freestyle, picking up 32 points with her time of 17:2710. Her finish was also good for an NCAA B-cut. Junior Elizabeth Heinbach was seventh in the event (18:04.29).
 
Stevens will look to work its way up the leaderboard Saturday in the second of three days of action at the ECAC Championships.
