EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (December 6, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team is in second place after three (of five total) sessions at the 2014 ECAC Championships.
 
The Ducks' team total of 1,218 points trails first place NYU which has 1,382 tallies. DI schools NJIT, Manhattan College and St. Francis College are in third, fourth and fifth place.

Session Two
Junior Tomasz Wolinski and senior Alex Xu went second and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle. Wolinski clocked a 45.84 and Xu notched a 47.10 as senior Jack Rees and freshman David Duque were 10th and 11th.
 
Junior Dane Pilcher was sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke, carding a 2:08.68 and taking 24 points. He was followed by sophomore Alex Chen, Wolinski and Duque in eighth, 10th and 11th. Junior Joshua Lefeber and senior Price Hu placed fourth and fifth in the 200-yard butterfly, turning in times of 1:53.33 and 1:53.40. Both finishes were good for B-cuts, with sophomore Conner Arnott, sophoore Austen Young and freshman Brennan Maxwell finishing seven-eight-nine.
 
Wrapping the second session was the 800-yard freestyle relay team. The group of freshman James Betz, Arnott, Sun and Xu teamed for a 6:55.82 which was good for second place and 56 team points.

Session Three
The 200-yard freestyle relay team opened Saturday's evening session with a win, clocking a 1:23.17 and picking up 62 points. The finish was good for an NCAA B-cut as well. Sun set another meet record in winning the 100-yard backstroke. The junior earned 32 team points and a B-cut with his time of 49.64. Gehenio ended up taking fourth (26 points) thanks to a 51.46, and sophomore Douglas Sholander was eighth

Sun picked up the Ducks with 32 points and a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. He set a meet-record and clocked an NCAA B-cut with a time of 1:47.74. His finish was nearly 2.5 seconds better than the previous meet-mark set back in 2010. Freshman Ethan Gehenio took sixth place and 24 points for the Ducks.

Wolinski won the 200-free, touching at 1:40.85 - more than a full second bettter than second place - earning 32 team tallies. Alex Xu was seventh with a 1:44.10. Lefeber was third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.65. His finish was good for an NCAA cut time. Duque and Pilcher were sixth and seventh with sophomore Alex Chen taking  ninth.

Sophomore Austen Young was fourth in the100-yard butterfly, tallying a 50.66. Freshman Brennan Maxwel and Gehenio were sixth and 12th.

Sun was second in the 400-yard individual medley after turning in a B-cut time of 4:03.93. Sun was followed by Xu in sixth and freshman Connor Harrigan in eighth.
 
Stevens will look to finish strong Sunday in sessions four and five.
