AUSTIN, Texas (June 9, 2015) – Senior David Evans of the national champion Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team was named a First-Team Academic All-American Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
Evans was chosen as part of the at-large category and was one of only two men's volleyball players selected to the first team. This
 
The Penfield, N.Y. native helped lead the Ducks to the school's first national championship as the team finished the season with a 31-4 overall mark and knocked off three-time defending champions Springfield College in straight sets to take home the title.
 
Evans was named AVCA Player of the Year, United Volleyball Conference Player of the Year and ECAC Player of the Year honors while also being named to First-Team All-AVCA, UVC and ECAC. He becomes the fifth student-athlete in Stevens's men's volleyball history to be to the CoSida Academic All-American team, the first since Brandt Grobeis took home second team honors in 2010. Evans is the first to be named to the first team.
