Empire 8 Honors 2016 Spring Academic Achievements

HOBOKEN, N.J. (July 12, 2016) – The Empire 8 Conference released its President's List recipients and All-Academic Teams today for the Spring 2016 semester, with 24 teams as well as 142 student-athletes earning these honors.

For a team to receive Empire 8 All-Academic status, the roster must obtain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher for the semester. 12 men's and 12 women's squads at Stevens met that requirement which went into the conference-record total of 119 throughout the nine full-time institutions and affiliate schools.

The teams at Stevens that made the list were: field hockey, softball, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's fencing, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's swimming, women's tennis, women's track & field (indoor and outdoor), women's volleyball, baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's lacrosse, men's soccer, men's swimming, men's track & field (indoor and outdoor), men's tennis, men's volleyball and wrestling.

Individually, a student-athlete must earn a 3.75 GPA or higher in a conference sponsored sport to be named to the President's List. In addition, the student-athlete must display positive contact on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. The conference states, "Its commitment to serve the educational needs of its student-athletes is the hallmark of the Empire 8."

Out of the record number 856 student-athletes in the conference that were named to the President's List, 101 of those represent the Ducks.

The nine full-time E8 members sponsored a total of 4,369 student-athletes who combined for a conference wide fall semester grade point average of 3.216.
