ROCHESTER, N.Y. (June 1, 2017)  – The Empire 8 Conference recognized Stevens Institute of Technology 2017 graduate
Amy Regan as its Woman of the Year Thursday.
Regan, who was also the conference's Female Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, is the fourth student-athlete from Stevens chosen as the Conference's Woman of the Year. Regan is now among the elite female student-athletes in the country from all three divisions eligible for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Regan concluded her career as one of the most decorated runners in Division III history. The Green Brook, New Jersey native captured six national championships, winning two in cross country and four on the track. A 14-time All-American, Regan is also a 12-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American, a four-time USTFCCA National Athlete of the Year and helped the Ducks reach the program's first-ever Cross Country national championship.
A four-time Empire 8 President's List honoree, Regan graduated with her Master's degree in Systems Analytics and her undergraduate degree in Engineering Management.
"Athletics has empowered me to create and follow my dreams through building confidence and self-esteem from a young age," Regan said in the conference's official release."The commitment to training and competition instills a feeling of strength and accomplishment which carries over beyond sports, but into academics and the professional world."
In additional to her national awards, Regan earned four Empire 8 Cross Country Athlete of the Year honors and four Track Athlete of the Year awards, winning three on the indoor track and one outdoors.
Regan will now be forwarded to the national NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee. The committee will choose the top-10 nominees in each division (I, II and III). From among those 30 honorees, the selection committee will determine the top three in each division to create a final list of nine student-athletes before selecting the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year.
