Stevens Institute of Technology Athletics

Coach Aldins says: Matt transferred in to Stevens in time for the 2012 Spring semester from Saint Joseph’s University. As a freshman for the Hawks, Matt was a key member of the bullpen and we are hoping that he can bolster our pitching staff. Matt is also a speedy runner and will compete for playing time in the outfield.

2011: appeared in 17 all out of the bullpen for Division I program Saint Joseph’s (Pa.)...posted a 2-1 record to along with a 5.03 ERA over 19.2 innings of work...made his collegiate debut in style as he picked up a win in relief (4.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R. 2 ER, 0 BB) vs. Old Dominion (2/19)...threw a scoreless inning (H, K) vs. UNC-Wilmington (3/8)...retired all three hitters he faced (K), vs. Iona (3/11)...did not give up a run in 1.2 innings of work (H, K) vs. St. Louis (3/27)...pitched 2 innings (2 K, 0 BB) of scoreless and hitless baseball vs. Temple (4/5)....picked up a win (2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K) vs. Lafayette (4/13)...did not give up a run in 0.2 innings of work (H) vs. Rhode Island (4/15)...pitched 0.2 innings of perfect baseball vs. La Salle (5/10)...recorded an out against the only batter he faced vs. Richmond (5/20).

High School: earned National Honor and National Technical Honor Society status…played for Coach Chris Lemore at Red Bank Regional…member of the Farrah Builders summer program under coach Steve DePolo…named captain his senior year…named an American Legion All-Star and was also selected to the All-Division Team…attended the Go Yard Showcase and also competed in several Perfect Game tournament...also competed in Indoor Track for Red Bank.

Personal: son of Diane and Lawrence Buccheri…has two sisters, Nicole and Kristen…majoring in Business and Technology…born 4/7/92…favorite aspect of Stevens is the academics and the campus as a whole…top MLB team and player are the New York Mets and Johan Santana…favorite book and movie are The 5 People You Meet in Heaven and Titanic.
