Seven Student-Athletes Capture Empire 8 Baseball All-Conference Accolades
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – For the second-consecutive season, six members of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team were honored by the Empire 8, with seniors Joe Finora, Anthony Andrews and Mark Rasulo, juniors Denis Ackermann, Russ Grimes and Kenneth Meerendonk, and sophomore Tom Phillips representing the Ducks’ on the league’s All-Conference teams.
Rasulo, Grimes, Finora Named ABCA All-Region
BROOKLYN, N.Y.– For the first time since the 2007 season, three members of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region accolades with seniors Mark Rasulo and Joe Finora and junior Russ Grimes representing the Ducks on this year’s All-New York squad. Rasulo headlined the group of Stevens honorees, garnering second-team All-Region recognition, while Finora and Grimes took home third-team honors.
Four Student-Athletes Named To NJCBA DII/DIII All-State Team
JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) recently named four members of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team to its 2010 Division II/III All-State Team, with senior lefthander Joe Finora headlining the group of Ducks’ honorees – taking home second-team honors as a starting pitcher.
Baseball Ends Season With A 12-7 Loss To FDU-Florham
MADISON, N.J. – Senior Mark Rasulo had a pair of hits and four RBI but the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson University – Florham in the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Tournament semifinals in Madison, N.J. The Ducks conclude the year with a 21-19 overall mark, while the Devils improved to 33-10 on the year.
Andrews Caps Off Baseball's Thrilling Comeback Win Against Old Westbury With Walk-Off Single
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior Anthony Andrews capped off a thrilling come-from-behind victory in the opening round of the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Tournament with a walk-off single to center, as the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team defeated SUNY Old Westbury, 6-5, at Dobbelaar Baseball Field in Hoboken, N.J. With the win the Ducks improved to 21-18 on the season, while the Panthers wrapped up the year with a 22-22 overall mark.
