Box Score vs. Utica - September 23, 2007

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 23, 2007) – Sophomore forward Kara Borzillo tallied the lone goal of the contest just 2:09 into the opening half on Sunday afternoon as the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team defeated Empire 8 opponent Utica College, 1-0. With the win, the Ducks improve to 6-2 on the season while the Pioneers fall to 2-6.

Borzillo chipped a shot into the upper left corner of the cage off a rebound shot from junior midfielder Allison Shields. Stevens’ junior goaltender Stephanie Smith stopped five shots on the afternoon while Utica junior keeper Amanda McDonnell (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) made a game-high seven saves.

Head Coach Jessica Reed and the Ducks return to action this Wednesday when they take on the Bulldogs of DeSales University at the De Baun Athletic Complex. The opening face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. and all of the action can be seen at www.Empire8.tv.
