Prakopcyk Scores Four Goals as Men's Lacrosse Falls to Villa Julie, 15-12
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Sophomore attacker Richard Ford scored a game-high five goals in leading the 10th-ranked Villa Julie College men’s lacrosse team to a 15-12 non-conference win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon in Owings Mills, Md. The Ducks were led by sophomore attacker Daniel Prakopcyk, who registered four goals and an assist to go along with three ground balls. Senior attacker John Dolny added three goals and an assist as the Ducks dropped their third game in a row to fall to 8-6 overall.
Decker Named Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year; Six Ducks Selected to All-Conference Team
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Tuesday morning, the Empire 8 announced the 2008 men’s lacrosse all-conference awards, and Stevens Institute of Technology freshman Dave Decker was named the Goalkeeper of the Year. Decker was joined on the All-Empire 8 first-team by senior attacker John Dolny. Four other Ducks received all-conference honors. In addition, senior midfielder Frank Sorrentino was tabbed as the Sportsman of the Year from Stevens.
Late Rally Falls Short as Men's Lacrosse Suffers 9-6 Loss to RIT in Empire 8 Semifinals
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Rochester Institute of Technology senior midfielder Andrew Ruocco scored five goals in leading the third-seeded Tigers to a 9-6 win over second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology during the semifinals of the Empire 8 Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Friday evening at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. With the win, RIT (10-6) advanced to the finals where it will face top-seeded Ithaca College on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y.
Start Time for Men's Lacrosse Empire 8 Semifinal against RIT Pushed Back to 7 p.m.
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The start time for today’s Empire 8 Men’s Lacrosse Championship semifinal game between Stevens Institute of Technology and Rochester Institute of Technology has been moved to 7 p.m. The contest was originally scheduled to take place at 4 p.m. The winner of tonight’s game will face either Ithaca College or St. John Fisher College for the conference championship on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the highest remaining seed.
Decker Remains in Top-15 in Two NCAA Statistical Categories
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Stevens Institute of Technology freshman goalie Dave Decker is currently ranked in the top-15 in the nation in two statistical categories according to the most recent NCAA Division III report, which was released earlier this week. Decker is eighth in save percentage (0.662) and 14th in goals-against average (6.55). Meanwhile, senior attacker/midfielder R.J. Ancona is listed No. 27 in face-off win percentage (0.596).
