Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Byron Collins Moves Into New Role as Assistant Athletic Director at Stevens
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Byron Collins has accepted a promotion to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Event Management in the Stevens Institute of Technology Department of Athletics, it was announced Wednesday. Collins will continue to serve as the men’s lacrosse coach as Stevens opens a national search for a replacement, but he will take over in his new role immediately. The 10-year head coach will make the move into athletic administration after leading the Ducks to an overall record of 111-53 and six NCAA Tournament appearances.
Decker Named ECAC Metro/South Goalie of the Year
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Late last week, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2009 ECAC Division III Men’s Lacrosse Metro/South All-Stars, and Stevens Institute of Technology goalkeeper Dave Decker was named the Goalie of the Year and first-team All-ECAC Metro/South. Decker was a second-team United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American and the Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year as well.
Heckman Named Scholar All-American by USILA
PERRY, N.Y. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its annual all-division USILA Scholar All-America Team on Tuesday morning, and Stevens Institute of Technology senior Alex Heckman made the grade. Heckman was one of 53 student-athletes across NCAA Division I, II, and III to make the team. He is the third Duck since 2004 to receive the prestigious distinction.
Keating and Decker Second-Team, Oreskovich Honorable Mention as USILA Releases 2009 DIII All-America Team
PERRY, N.Y. – Late Tuesday evening, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced the 2009 Division III All-America team. Three Stevens Institute of Technology players were honored as senior attackman Matt Keating and sophomore goalkeeper Dave Decker were both named second-team All-Americans, and senior attackman J.R. Oreskovich was an honorable mention All-American. This gives the program 62 in its 125-year history, but it is the first time Stevens lacrosse has placed two individuals on the second-team.
Heckman, Keating, and Oreskovich Selected to Play in USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game
PERRY, N.Y. – Late Monday night, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) released its USILA North/South Division III All-Star teams. Three Stevens Institute of Technology senior men’s lacrosse players made the South team in captain Alex Heckman, and attackmen Matt Keating and J.R. Oreskovich. Last year, Nick Daniello made the team as a total of 12 Stevens men’s lacrosse players have played in the game since 2003.
