Bielicky powers Men's Lacrosse to 24-4 win over Manhattanville

Sophomore Jay Wells scored three goals and won eight of nine faceoffs.

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Freshman attack Mark Bielicky (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) had four goals and one assist to power Stevens Institute of Technology to a 24-4 win over Manhattanville College on Saturday night in a Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference game at DeBaun Field.

Stevens (4-2, 1-0 Knickerbocker) scored the first 16 goals of the game before Manhattanville (2-5, 0-2 Knickerbocker) got on the scoreboard with 48 seconds left in the second quarter.

Sophomore midfielder Jay Wells (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) scored just 44 seconds into the game as Stevens built a 7-0 lead with 7:41 elapsed in the opening quarter.  Bielicky scored three of his four goals in the first half as the Ducks opened up a 16-2 lead at halftime.

Stevens also received three goals each from Wells, sophomore attack Rich Benson (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen), senior midfielder Erik Reckdenwald (Glen Aubrey, N.Y./Whitney Point) and senior midfielder Brian Lalli (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton).

Jim Frattarola, Matt O’Brien, Dennis McNally and Matt Yardis scored one goal each for Manhattanville.

Stevens held a commanding 57-21 advantage in shots.  Freshman goalie Anthony Cerretani stopped 18 shots for Manhattanville.  Senior Matt Cannon (4) and freshman Jack Dunderdale (8) combined for 12 saves for Stevens.

The Ducks are back in action on Wednesday, April 7, when they travel to Kings Point, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. game against the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
