Hoffman Brothers Earn Academic All-America Honors from CoSIDA
HOBOKEN, N.J. – On Monday, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced it’s field of recipients for the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans, and Michael Hoffman and John Hoffman from Stevens Institute of Technology received first-team and second-team accolades, respectively. The men received the awards from the College Division for their performances during the cross country/track and field seasons.
Abuouf, Woo and Hoffman Brothers Earn Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Award
HOBOKEN, N.J. – In the May issue of Diverse Magazine, four student-athletes from Stevens Institute of Technology were named as 2008 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Athletes. From the men’s track and field teams, sophomore Mohamed Abuouf was a third-team selection as seniors Michael Hoffman and John Hoffman were both selected to the first-team. Junior Emily Woo from the women’s swimming team was the final Stevens recipient as she earned first-team honors.
Fullam and Hoffman Brothers Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First-Team
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Seniors Michael Hoffman, Joe Fullam and John Hoffman from Stevens Institute of Technology were selected as first-team recipients to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District men’s track and field/cross country teams in the College Division (District II) by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Even more impressively, Stevens represented 30 percent of the field as there were only 10 scholar-athletes selected to the first-team in the College Division for District II. Because the athletes were first-team selections, each of the men will now be included on the Academic All-America ballot.
Year in Review: Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field
HOBOKEN, N.J. – During the 2007-08 season, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's indoor and outdoor track and field teams rewrote the school's record book. Along the way, the Ducks set a number of records (including 18 current marks) and sent seven individuals and four relay teams to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Furthermore, Stevens produced seven Empire 8 all-stars and one conference champion.
Men's 4x100-Meter Relay Team Sets New School Record at Day Two of ECAC Outdoor Championships
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – On Friday afternoon, the squad of freshmen Nicholas Lowe, Trevor Currie and John Sangiovanni as well as sophomore Mohamed Abuouf notched a new school record in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.89 as the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s outdoor track and field team competed at the ECAC Championships in Springfield, Mass. The meet took place at the Blake Track Facility on the campus of Springfield College.
