Jason Nachman of Men's Soccer Wins 2009 Senior Scholar-Athlete Award from Empire 8
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Early Wednesday morning, the Empire 8 announced that Stevens Institute of Technology senior men’s soccer player Jason Nachman was selected as the conference’s 2009 Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner on the men’s side. The women’s award was split by Frances Estes of Ithaca College and Amanda Butler of Utica College. Nachman was a central back on the national runner-up men’s soccer team at Stevens and just recently graduated with better than a 3.75 cumulative grade-point average.
Men's Soccer Training Trip; Barcelona, Spain
LLORET DE MAR, Spain – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team is using the 2009 Spring Break to travel to Barcelona, Spain to train, play three exhibition games, and take in a new culture. Sports Information Director Rob Kulish is on the road with the team and will provide daily commentary, pictures, blogs, game recaps and journals from the players so everyone back in the United States can follow the team during the trip. Beyond the Pond: The Journey Continues, Part 8 - The Playoff Hunt
HOBOKEN, N.J. – During his career with the Ducks from 2003-06, Nick Gkionis developed into one of the top players in the history of the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer program. In fact, as a senior, he was named a first-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Gkionis was just the second player in program history to earn the award.
Johnson Named Third-Team All-American as Three Ducks Get All-Region Recognition
HOBOKEN, N.J. - On Friday morning it was announced that junior forward Terrence Johnson was named a third-team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Earlier in the week, it was announced that Johnson and senior captains Jeremy Lippel and Jason Nachman were named to the Northeast Division III All-Region team. Johnson was first-team All-Region while Lippel and Nachman were second- and third-team selections, respectively.
Men's Soccer Ranked No. 2 in Final NSCAA Poll after National Championship Run
HOBOKEN, N.J. – On Tuesday night, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its final national rankings, and the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer team closed the season as the No. 2 team in the country. The Ducks were the national runner-up after an incredible journey to the final of the 2008 Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. Stevens advanced by Rennsalaer Polytechnic Institute, Rhode Island College, Johns Hopkins University, defending champ Middlebury College, and Amherst College before falling to Messiah College in the National Championship game.
