SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team achieved its highest-ever ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region, ranking 12th in the ITA’s most recent poll. Despite a 6-3 loss to the region’s 11th ranked team, Vassar College, in the squad’s lone fall season dual-match, the Ducks put forth strong showings in both The College of New Jersey Invitational and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championship.

WILLINGBORO, N.J. – The doubles pairing of freshman Chris Rosensteel and junior Arik Zeevy turned in a solid performance at the Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional Championships, building on yesterday’s opening round victory by advancing to the quarterfinal round of the tournament with an 8-4 victory over Skidmore College juniors Lorenzo Cabrera and Spencer Cheng. The duo would fall to Vassar College’s Mike Mattleson and Andrew Guzick, 8-5, in the quarterfinals.

WILLINGBORO, N.J. – Freshman Shota Tasaki scored a pair of singles victories to advance to the Round of 16 at the Wilson/ITA Northeast Regional Tournament in Willingboro, N.J. The Greenwich, N.J. native downed Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute freshman Kenny Weiand, 6-1, 6-0, in the opening round before defeating Nazareth College’s Ryan McCormick, 6-1, 6-2, to advance to the round of 16. Tasaki will face Vassar College senior Mike Mattelson in tomorrow’s first match slated for 9 a.m.

POUGKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Despite singles wins by freshmen Chris Rosensteel and Stan Yakoff and junior Jay Lee, the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team fell to Vassar College, 6-3, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Ducks are now 0-1 on the fall season after opening up play at The College of New Jersey Invitational.

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s and women’s tennis matches originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 have been rescheduled. The men’s team will now square off with Vassar College on Saturday, September 26 at 1 p.m., while the women will travel to Mahwah, N.J. to face Ramapo College on Wednesday, October 7.
