Men's Tennis Ends Most Successful Season Yet with Loss to No. 1 Trinity in NCAA Tournament Second Round
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Ranked No. 1 in the nation in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III poll, Trinity University (Texas) posted a 5-0 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology during the Second Round of the NCAA D-III Men’s Tennis Championship on Saturday morning at the Battleground on the campus of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. With the win, the top-seeded Tigers advanced to Sunday’s regional final to play either second-seeded UMW or third-seeded Washington & Lee University. With the loss, the fourth-seeded Ducks closed out the year with an overall record of 16-7 as they tied the school record for wins in a season that they set just last season.

Fourth-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology defeated Pennsylvania Athletic Conference champion and fifth-seeded Neumann College, 5-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship on Friday morning at the Battleground on the campus of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. Making its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the Ducks will now face Trinity University (Texas) in the second round on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 1 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III poll.
Gachko Selected as Empire 8 Coach of the Year; Five Men's Tennis Players Earn All-Conference Honors
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Empire 8 announced its year-end award recipients for men’s tennis on Wednesday afternoon, and Steve Gachko of Stevens Institute of Technology was picked as the coach of the year by the conference. In 2008, Gachko assisted the Ducks to their first-ever Empire 8 Championship and a second-straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.
Men's Tennis Seeded Fourth in Mary Washington Regional; Ducks to Face Neumann on Friday in First Round
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Making its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship, Stevens Institute of Technology has been seeded fourth in one of the eight regionals and will open the tournament on Friday against fifth-seeded Neumann College at 9 a.m. The Ducks will compete at the Battleground on the campus of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. The winner of the UMW regional will advanced to the national quarterfinals, which will be held May 13-18 at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
Men's Tennis Rallies to Beat Ithaca and Win its First-Ever Empire 8 Championship
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Ricky Bawa was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2008 Empire 8 Men’s Tennis Championship as he led Stevens Institute of Technology to a 5-4 victory over Ithaca College in the tournament finals on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. This marks the first-ever Empire 8 championship in men’s tennis for the Ducks, who also won four straight Skyline Conference crowns from 2004-07.
