Reger and Cranford Ranked in Final NCAA National Statistics in Blocking and Hitting Percentage
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association for Division III men’s volleyball, recently announced its final posting of the 2008 national statistical leaders and junior middle hitters Andrew Cranford and Doug Reger from Stevens Institute of Technology were ranked in two different categories. Throughout the year both athletes held ownership of being ranked within the top-10 as Cranford was recognized for blocking and attacking, while Reger was one of the top blockers in the nation.
MacWhinnie and Dudek Named Athletes of the Year at Annual Awards Banquet
HOBOKEN, N.J. – On Sunday, May 4, the Stevens Institute of Technology Department of Athletics hosted its 51st Annual Athletics Banquet. Over 400 student-athletes, administrators, faculty members, coaches, and staff attended the event inside the Canavan Arena. A total of 55 seniors were recognized during the ceremony. In addition, senior wrestler Brandon MacWhinnie and junior guard Dani Dudek of women’s basketball walked away with the top awards of the evening.
Begarney Named to First-Ever NECVA Hall of Fame
MAHWAH, N.J. – On Saturday, April 5, Dave Begarney from the Stevens Institute of Technology graduating class of 1998 was inducted into the inaugural North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Hall of Fame for his three-year career as a Duck. To this day, Begarney is still listed in nine school records, while having obtained six different athletic honors during his tenure.
Men's Volleyball Falls in Five to Hunter in the 2008 ECAC Championship
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The tenth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team was defeated by No. 14 Hunter College (32-4) in the championship match of the 2008 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III South Region Men’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday in Hoboken, N.J. This was the Ducks (21-12) seventh five-game loss of the season (six of which was decided by two points) as they fell 30-25, 28-30, 30-32, 30-27, 13-15.
Cranford Named AVCA Second-Team All-American; Trinsey and Bertucci Honored by NECVA
HOBOKEN, N.J. – On Monday afternoon, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 5th Annual AVCA Division III Men’s All-America Teams. Junior middle hitter Andrew Cranford from Stevens Institute of Technology was a second-team All-American selection for his performance during the 2008 season. This is the second All-America honor that Cranford has received in his career and is the fifth time in Stevens history that a member from the volleyball team has received All-America accolades.
