Bertucci, Grobeis, Barito, and Paul Named to CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large Teams
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Four different Stevens Institute of Technology student-athletes were named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large. Senior Michael Bertucci and sophomore Brandt Grobeis of the men’s volleyball team were named to the first– and second-team respectively. Sophomore Laura Barito of the women’s swimming team was a second-team choice, and senior Hillary Paul of the field hockey team was named to the third-team.
Bertucci Named Class of 2009 Valedictorian
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior Michael Bertucci, a Chemical Biology major with a minor in Social Sciences, has been named Valedictorian of the Stevens Institute of Technology Class of 2009. Graduating first in the class, Michael will address his fellow graduates at the 2009 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on May 21, 2009. Actively involved in many aspects of life at Stevens, Bertucci has made numerous contributions to the Stevens community. He is a stellar volleyball player and academic standout.
Men's Volleyball Molten Photo Gallery and Video Archives Now Available
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Fans, there is now a photo gallery posted to the men's volleyball info center as well as this release of the 2009 Division III Volleyball Championship. Men's Volleyball Ranked in all Statistical Categories; Cranford and Reger Finish No. 1 in the Nation
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association recently publicized the final national ranking summary for the 2009 men’s volleyball season as Stevens Institute of Technology junior middle hitter Andrew Cranford concluded his career as the nation’s leader for hitting percentage (.492) through 103 sets played. He is also 10th for blocks per set (1.22) and 32nd for kills per set (3.42). Senior outside hitter Joe Trinsey is listed among the Top-30 for a number of individual statistical categories. For the second-year in a row, senior middle hitter Doug Reger has concluded the year as the national block leader having produced an average of 1.63 blocks per set.
Men's Volleyball falls in Molten Championship, 3-0 to Juniata; Ducks finish Season as National Runner-Up
MAHWAH, N.J. – Senior middle hitter Andrew Cranford manufactured a .389 hitting percentage off of 9 kills on 18 swings as the second-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team fell in a hard-fought three-set battle to No. 1 Juniata College in the 2009 Molten Division III Volleyball Championship held at Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J. In the Ducks first trip to the finals of the Molten, Stevens fell by the scores of 30-26, 30-25 and 30-19. Stevens was limited to just eight team blocks and a service ace on the night; two areas that have led to the Ducks success up to this point. The seven seniors that walk away from tonight’s match have much to be proud of having led the Ducks to a 26-7 overall mark and first-ever chance at a national title.
