NFCA Names Danielle DeFeo All-Region
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Danielle DeFeo (Andover, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology softball team was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Second-Team as the organization announced its 2012 honorees this week. The sophomore shortstop was also named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team – an accomplishment of ability both in the classroom and on the field.
DeFeo and Berardi Earn All-Empire 8 Honors
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore Danielle DeFeo (Andover, N.J.) became the second member of the Stevens Institute of Technology softball program to earn First-Team All-Empire 8 status as the league announced its all-conference team on Tuesday. Her classmate Kayla Berardi (Brookfield, Conn.) was named to the Empire 8 Second-Team for the second year in a row.
Danielle DeFeo Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Sophomore shortstop Danielle DeFeo (Andover, N.J.) of the Stevens Institute of Technology softball team was named to the 2012 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team, the organization announced this week. The mechanical engineering major finished the season ranked No. 38 nationally in batting average at .458.
Softball Runs into Tough Luck at Empire 8 Tournament
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team dropped two close Empire 8 Tournament games to St. John Fisher College and Alfred University on Friday. Stevens came out on the short side of the highest-scoring game in E8 tournament history against the Cardinals, losing 11-8 in game one before falling in a 5-4 back-and-forth battle with Alfred in the second game.
Empire 8 Softball Tournament Begins Friday
ITHACA, N.Y. – For the second-straight season, the Stevens Institute of Technology softball program will be participating in the Empire 8 Championship Tournament. The third-year program is the third seed in the double-elimination tournament that begins Friday at 10 a.m. with a matchup against St. John Fisher College.
