HOBOKEN, N.J. The match was part of the Stevens Tip-Off Tournament. In the other match-up earlier today, St. Lawrence University defeated New Jersey City University, 79-56.

Stevens (1-0) opened up the contest on a 22-7 run in the first 12:13. In that portion, Enright tallied 10 points. North Carolina Wesleyan answered back by scoring 14 of the next 25 points, which was a run that was capped off by a jumper by junior guard Essence Chambers (Burlington, N.C.). That score cut the Ducks’ lead to 30-21 with 1:50 to go. Shortly thereafter, Enright, junior guard Dani Dudek and freshman center/forward Paige Armstrong each notched one of their two free-throw shots. Stevens went into the locker room up 33-21.

In the second half, the Ducks wasted no time getting back to work as they went on a 24-6 streak to close out the contest. During that run, Stevens was led by Dudek, who recorded six points, four assists and two steals. In the run, sophomore guard Sarah Gehring had six points and two defensive rebounds.

The Battling Bishops (0-1) were headed up by freshman forward Desiree Driver (Minneapolis, Minn.) and freshman forward Gretchen Tobias (Fairfax, Va.). Driver picked up six points and grabbed six boards while Tobias owned four points and a team-high seven rebounds. Stevens had 21 points off turnovers and 20 markers in the paint.

In the opening half of the St. Lawrence/NJCU contest, the Gothic Knights (0-1) led by a score of 25-19 with six minutes to go. Then, the Saints (1-0) went on a 15-3 run in the span of 4:25 to take a 34-28 lead with 1:25 remaining. At the end of 20 minutes, St. Lawrence found itself leading by four points (36-32). During that period, New Jersey City freshman guard Angela Fitzgerald (Jersey City, N.J.) and junior forward Alaia Robinson (Irvington, N.J.) combined to earn 20 points and 12 boards.

As for the latter stanza, the Saints used a 43-24 spurt to boast themselves into Sunday’s final. Junior guard Lauren Sischo (Rodman, N.Y.) led the way for SLU with 12 points, three rebounds and a pair of steals. St. Lawrence shot 48.5 percent (32-for-66) from the field in the match.
