Women's Track and Field Sets Three School-Records at Lion Invitational
EWING, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s track and field team came off the Empire 8 Championships by setting three new school-records at the Lion Invitational held at The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. A trio of sophomores were responsible for the program-bests as the entire team braved very warm weather in a quality overall performance.
Women's Outdoor Track and Field Places Fourth at Empire 8 Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s track and field team placed fourth of five teams at the 2009 Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend at Nazareth College. The Ducks finished with a team total of 34 points as Ithaca College won the event with 322. Rochester Institute of Technology finished second (129) and Nazareth was third (75). Alfred University placed fifth with 22 points.
Cook Breaks Two School-Records at New Jersey Invitational
EWING, N.J. – Senior Salme Cook broke two of her own school-records this past weekend at the New Jersey Invitational in Ewing, N.J. as Stevens placed 10th of 13. A total of four school-records fell, with junior Melissa Franzese and freshman Jennifer Wehof broke the other two. The event was the final tune-up for the Ducks before the Empire 8 Championships next weekend in Rochester, N.Y.
Women's Outdoor Track and Field Weekend Recap
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s outdoor track and field team had several athletes compete at two different events this past weekend. Friday night was the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational at Princeton University, and Saturday was the Springfield College Season Opener. Junior Melissa Franzese was the only new person to qualify for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships as she carded a 39:49.88 in the 10,000 meter run on Friday.
Four School-Records Fall as Women's Track and Field Competes at Dick Shea Invitational
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Four school-records fell as the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s track and field team competed at the United States Military Academy in the Dick Shea Invitational on Saturday. This was the first event that most of the team competed in the outdoor season as just a few Ducks opened last weekend at the Richard Stockton Invitational. Senior Salme Cook had the strongest day, setting an individual school-record and doing her part in a relay record.
