Women's Soccer Receives 2008 NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Award
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Recently, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its 2008 Ethics/Sportsmanship Awards and for the seventh-consecutive year, the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team was honored. The awards are given out to institutions that have recorded 10 or less yellow cards during its season. No yellow cards result in a Gold honor, 1-5 Silver and 5-10 Bronze. For the seventh year in a row the Ducks have garnered a silver label with Head Coach Jeff Parker (9th season) at the helm.
Cook Lands NSCAA/Adidas All-New York Region Honors for the Fourth-Consecutive Year
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Recently, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its All-Region selections as senior back Salme Cook of the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-New York Region first-team. For the past four seasons, Cook has been a member of the NSCAA/adidas all-region team. In 2008, she helped to lead the Ducks to its second-consecutive Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Title.
Women's Soccer Claims Second-Straight ECAC Metro Championship with 1-0 Win Over NYU
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team claimed its second-straight Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Metro Championship on Sunday in Hoboken at the De Baun Athletic Complex with a 1-0 win over rival New York University. Stevens (15-5-2) got a goal from senior Meghan Tennyson in the fourth minute of action, and the Stevens midfield and defense was able to hold the NYU offense at bay over the final 85-plus minutes of action. Sophomore Sonia Kappeler was named the ECAC Championship’s Most Outstanding Performer after a fantastic performance in the Ducks’ midfield.
Three Early Goals Lifts Women's Soccer Past Kean and into ECAC Metro Finals
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology scored three times in the opening 14:27 of the game en route to 4-2 victory over fifth-seeded Kean University during the semifinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Metro Championship on Saturday at the De Baun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, N.J. Junior midfielder/forward Leslie Kallberg scored the first two goals of the contest for the Ducks, who advanced to Sunday’s championship game where they will face second-seeded New York University at 11 a.m. in Hoboken. Stevens is seeking back-to-back ECAC Metro titles.
Risch's Late Tally Helps to Advance Women's Soccer to Semifinals of ECAC Championship
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior midfielder/forward Erica Risch tallied her third goal of the season off a double assist to propel the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team past Drew University Wednesday night in Hoboken, N.J. during the opening round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Metro Championship. Stevens (13-5-2), who was awarded the No. 1 seed for tournament play, will host Kean University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
