Four Student-Athletes Earn Women's Tennis All-Conference Honors
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Allyson Kingman headlines a list of four Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis players who earned all-league recognition, garnering All-Empire 8 first-team singles accolades after leading the Ducks to a 12-3 (7-1 Empire 8) record and a berth in the 2009 Empire 8 Championship match. Also named to the league’s all-conference teams were sophomores Nicole Portner and Morgan Scalzi and freshman Brooke Catanzano.
Women's Tennis Loses To Ithaca in Empire 8 Championship To Wrap Up Fall Season
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team wrapped up its fall season with a 5-0 loss to Ithaca College at the Empire 8 women’s tennis championship match. The Bombers upped their season tally to 11-0 en route to their fifth consecutive conference crown, while the Ducks, who entered the championship riding a four-match win-streak finished with a 12-3 overall mark. With the win the Bombers received the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships held each spring.
Appleheimer, Catanzano Spark Women's Tennis Empire 8 Championship Semifinal Win Over RIT
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior co-captain Kendra Appleheimer and freshman Brooke Catanzano went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles action to key the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team’s, 5-2, victory over Rochester Institute of Technology at the 2009 Empire 8 Championships. With the win Stevens advances to the Empire 8 Championship match against four-time defending champion Ithaca College, which defeated Nazareth College, 9-0, in the day’s other semifinal match.
Women's Tennis Faces RIT In The Opening Round Of The Empire 8 Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The second-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team opens play at the 2009 Empire 8 Women’s Tennis Championships on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. against the third-seeded Tigers at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 24. Fourth-seeded Nazareth College will host top-seeded Ithaca College in the day’s other semifinal match also slated for a 12 p.m. start. In the event of inclement weather both matches will be played at the Mendon Racquet & Pool Club in Pittsford, N.Y.
Women's Tennis Downs Ramapo In Its Final Tune-Up Before The Empire 8 Championships
MAHWAH, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team used singles victories from juniors Allyson Kingman and Kendra Appleheimer, sophomore Nicole Portner, and freshmen Brooke Catanzano and Alexandra Handel to defeat Ramapo College, 7-2, in a non-conference match in Mahwah, N.J. With the win, the Ducks are now 11-2 overall on the season, while the Roadrunners fall to 7-5.
