Women's Cross Country Receives Prestigious Academic Award from NJAIAW
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Recently, the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s cross country team received the Team Academic Award for their performance in the classroom in the Fall of 2007. Each year, the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women recognizes one team in the state of New Jersey in each season, and the Stevens women’s cross country squad earned the distinction with a fantastic collective effort in the classroom.
February Recruiting Weekend Information Announced
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology cross country and track and field programs announced their February recruiting weekend information on Friday afternoon. Recruits and any athletes interested in coming to Stevens and joining these teams are encouraged to attend on February 20 and 21, 2009. Check-in begins Friday at 8 a.m. (rolling) and check-out will be Saturday at 11 a.m.
Women's Cross Country Finishes 18th at Division III NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships
CANTON, N.Y. – Junior Melissa Franzese was the top finisher for the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s cross country team as the squad posted an 18th-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships. Franzese crossed the tape with a time of 24:19 that was good for a 27th-place finish out of a field that had over 200 runners competing in the 6,000-meter run at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday. Men's and Women's Cross Country Tune-Up for NCAA Regional's
HOLMDEL, N.J. – On Friday afternoon at Holmdel Park, the Stevens Institute of Technology cross country programs competed in the United States Military Academy Prep School Meet. The women’s team won the event, and the men came in second. Melissa Franzese won the 5k women’s run as the junior defeated a field of 15 runners as Stevens was victorious in the overall meet with 32 team points. The men finished second in their race with 54 team points as the United States Military Academy won the 5k with a team score of 15.
Franzese Finishes 15th Overall as Women's Cross Country Takes Third at Empire 8 Championship
SARATOGA, N.Y. – Junior Melissa Franzese posted a time of 18:34 in the 5,000-meter run as the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s cross country team finished third out of seven Empire 8 institutions that competed at this year’s Empire 8 Championships in Saratoga, N.Y. The team earned 271 points, good for third just behind Rochester Institute of Technology (247) and the champion Ithaca College (89). The Ducks improved their mark from a year ago when they finished fifth overall.
