Gene Peluso is in his 16th season as the head coach of the Stevens men’s lacrosse team and begins the 2025 season with a 201-68 record in his tenure with the Ducks. He is the winningest coach in program history.

Peluso has led the Ducks to eight NCAA Tournament Appearances, the MAC Freedom Tournament and regular season title each of the last four seasons, a pair of Empire 8 Conference Tournament Championships and four Empire 8 Regular Season titles. Under Peluso's leadership, the Ducks, the Ducks have won at least one NCAA game in eight trips to the national tournament. 

Additionally, Peluso has coached a total of 54 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Americans and 44 USILA Academic All-Americans. A five-time MAC Freedom Coach of the Year, Peluso also earned Empire 8 Coach of the Year honors four times and was named the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2018.

In his career, Peluso has compiled an overall record of 330-147 as a head coach heading into the 2025 campaign and he enters the  season fifth in career victories among all active Division III men's lacrosse coaches.

At Stevens HC Gene
  • Guided the Ducks to a fourth straight MAC Freedom title in 2024 with a perfect 8-0 mark in league play.
  • Coached Stevens to the MAC Freedom Championship and the NCAA Tournament with a perfect record in conference play in 2021
  • Led the Ducks to the Empire 8 Championship and the third round of the NCAA Tournament after posting a program-record 18 wins in 2018
  • In 2013, the Ducks earned an at large bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship and advanced to its third consecutive second round appearance in the tournament
  • Named E8 Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2012 after leading Stevens to the E8 Tournament title in each of those years
  • Earned IMCLA Coach of the Year in 2018
  • With an 11-9 victory over St. John Fisher on April 21, 2019, Peluso won his 132nd career game to become the winningest coach in program history
  • Was selected to coach the USILA North-South All-Star game in 2013 for the second time in his career (2008)
  • Has coached a total of 34 USILA All-Americans and 26 USILA Academic All-Americans at Stevens
  • His .730 career winning percentage at Stevens entering the 2021 season is the best in program history
RIT HC
  • Amassed an 88-45 overall record in seven seasons with the Tigers
  • Helped develop 21 USILA All-Americans and 12 North-South All-Star Game participants
  • Coached a total of 60 All-Empire 8 Honorees, including the 2004 and 2006 E8 Players of the Year
  • Produced three Verizon Academic All-Americans and seven USILA Academic All-Americans
  • Chosen to coach the North squad in the 2008 North/South All-Star Game
  • Selected as the 2004 Empire 8 Coach of the Year
Lycoming Head Coach
  • Was the first men’s lacrosse coach in program history
  • Directed the Warriors to a 41-34 record, including a 32-14 mark over his final three seasons
  • Led Lycoming to a 12-4 record in 2001 and the MAC Regular Season Championship
  • Coached two North/South participants, four USILA All-Americans and 33 All-MAC award winners
  • Named the 1999 MAC Coach of the Year
  • Was also the coach of the women's team from 1997-2000
Nazareth Student-Athlete
  • Peluso enjoyed an accomplished playing career at Nazareth, leading the Golden Flyers to the NCAA Division III semifinals in his final season
  • Compiled a 23-7 overall record in two seasons as a player with Nazareth
  • Achieved his bachelor’s degree from Nazareth in business management in 1992
SUNY-Cobleskill Student Athlete
  • Peluso enjoyed an accomplished playing career at SUNY Cobleskill (Junior College), leading the Tigers to Junior College Regional Championship in both seasons
  • Was a captain and All-Regional All-American Defenseman in 1989

  • Peluso was inducted to the US Lacrosse (Greater Rochester Chapter) Hall of Fame in 2010
  • Peluso resides in Branchburg, N.J. with his wife Beth and two children, daughter Stefani and son Patrick.
